WDR Report

The WDR report rolls your sales up into a standardized set of garden-center categories (Annuals, Shrubs, Perennials/G'covers, Wild Bird, Giftware, and so on) and pairs them with week, month, and year-to-date totals, last-year comparisons, labor cost, and inventory value. Because the categories stay consistent even when your own department structure changes, WDR numbers remain comparable year over year — many stores use it as their standing weekly scorecard.

Find it under Reports → Misc, where four links run the same report for different periods: WDR Week, WDR Month, WDR 1st 6mo, and WDR Year.

Availability of the WDR report

The WDR report is enabled per-client by VMX: the mapping from your departments and sub-departments to the standardized categories has to be configured for your account. Viewing it also requires the See Sensitive Numbers permission on your employee record. If you don't see the WDR links under Reports → Misc and want them, contact help@vmxllc.com.

What's on the WDR report

The WDR Week view covers Monday through the most recent Sunday (the title shows the exact week, e.g. "WDR Report for Week Mon 6/1/2026 - Sun 6/7/2026"). WDR Month covers the calendar month to date, and WDR Year covers January 1 through the report date. For WDR 1st 6mo, set the report date to June 30 to get the first half of the year.

The table has columns Name, Sales, Margin, and COGS, in two parts:

Category rows — one row per standardized category, showing that category's sales, margin percent, and cost of goods for the period, followed by a bold Mapped Total row summing all categories.

Summary rows — on the Week view:

  • Weekly Total — all sales for the week, with overall margin
  • GC Sold — gift cards sold (gift card sales are not included in the sales totals)
  • This Week Last Year — the same week 52 weeks ago (the exact dates are shown in the row)
  • YTD Sales This Year / YTD Sales Last Year — year-to-date through this week, and through the matching week last year
  • Transaction Count This Week This Year / Last Year and Transaction Count YTD This Year / Last Year — receipt counts for the same comparisons
  • Labor This Week / Labor This Year — labor cost (hours × pay rate) from the time clock
  • Total items Sold This Week — unit count
  • Inventory $ (Retail) — the retail value of on-hand inventory at the end of the period

Italic Mapped ... rows under the last-year and YTD rows show the same comparison figures counting only the mapped categories, and Mapped items Sold This Week shows the unit count from mapped categories only.

The Month / 1st 6mo / Year views show the equivalent rows for their period: Total Sales, GC Sold, Total Sales (Last Year), Transaction Count This Year / Last Year, Total items Sold This Year, and Inventory $ (Retail).

Choosing divisions on the WDR report

The Divisions: selector at the top of the page controls which sales divisions are included; pick one or more and click Update. The divisions currently included are listed just below the selector. Each account has a sensible default (typically the retail division), so most users never need to change this.

Understanding the Mapped Total row

The Mapped Total row is the sum of all the standardized category rows. If Mapped Total is lower than the Weekly Total (or YTD total) directly below it, the gap is sales from departments or sub-departments that aren't yet mapped to a category — typically new or internal-only departments. Email help@vmxllc.com with the department/sub-department names you'd like rolled up (and which category they belong to) and VMX will extend the mapping.

"Mapping Warnings" on the WDR report

A yellow Mapping Warnings box appears at the top of the report when the category mapping needs attention, with messages like:

  • "(sub-department) is not mapped to any category" — sales in that sub-department during the period are being left out of the category rows and Mapped Total
  • "(sub-department) is mapped 2 times between ..." — the sub-department is double-counted across categories

Either way, the category rows won't reconcile cleanly until the mapping is corrected — contact help@vmxllc.com with the warning text and where the sub-department should go.

See which departments feed each WDR category

The bottom of the report lists every standardized category with the departments (and sub-department additions or subtractions) that roll into it, so you can verify exactly how your structure maps to the categories. Categories with nothing assigned show "Nothing mapped".
