By Day of Week

The Sales By Day of Week report answers "which days of the week do we do the most business?" It totals sales and receipt counts for each weekday (Sunday through Saturday) over the date range you choose. Find it under Reports → Sales → By Day of Week.

What's on the By Day of Week report

A bar chart at the top plots Sales (dollars, left axis) and Receipts (count, right axis) for each day of the week, followed by a table with one row per weekday:

• Day of Week — Sunday through Saturday
• Sales — total dollar sales posted on that weekday within the range
• Sales % — that weekday's share of the range's total sales
• Receipts — number of receipts posted on that weekday

A totals row appears at the bottom. The report covers the store you are currently working in.

Filters on the By Day of Week report

Set the filters at the top of the page and click View:

1. From / To — the date range to analyze.
2. Choose division... — limit to one or more divisions (only shown if your account has more than one sales division).
3. Choose department... — limit to one or more departments.
4. Also, go back — choose 1 years, 2 years, or 3 years to also include the same date range from prior years in the totals. Prior-year ranges are offset in 52-week steps so the weekdays line up (the same Saturdays compare to Saturdays).

"Your date range does not include an even number of weeks" warning

If your date range isn't a whole number of weeks, the report shows a Keep in Mind alert:

Your date range (of N days) does not include an even number of weeks, so not every day of the week is equally represented.

For example, a 10-day range contains two of some weekdays but only one of others, which skews the comparison. For a fair day-of-week comparison, pick a range that is a multiple of 7 days (one week, four weeks, and so on).
