Homebase Export

Homebase is a third-party employee scheduling and time-tracking service. VMX connects with Homebase in two directions:

  • Homebase Export — a download link under the Sales heading of the reports sidebar that produces daily sales CSVs (one per store) formatted for Homebase, so Homebase can show sales alongside your labor schedule.
  • Labor from Homebase — accounts with a Homebase connection have VMX pull daily labor hours and labor cost from Homebase, so the labor figures on the Daily report and the dashboard reflect Homebase timesheets instead of the VMX time clock.

Both sides are enabled per-client by VMX. If you use Homebase and don't see the Homebase Export link, or you'd like your VMX labor numbers to come from Homebase, contact help@vmxllc.com.

Download daily sales CSVs for Homebase

The Homebase Export link downloads a ZIP file of daily sales — one CSV per store — covering the 30 days that end on the report date you have selected.

  1. Open Reports.
  2. In the sidebar under Date, set the report date. The export covers the 30 days ending on this date, so leave it on today for the most recent month of sales.
  3. Under the Sales heading in the sidebar, click Homebase Export. A ZIP file downloads to your computer.
  4. Unzip the file. Inside is one CSV per store, each named after the store.

Each CSV has two columns, Date and Value. There is one row per day — the date (for example 07/05/2026) and that store's sales for the day, the same Sales figure the Daily report shows. This Date/Value layout is the format Homebase expects when importing daily sales, so each store's file can be uploaded to the matching location in Homebase.

The Homebase Export link is enabled per-client by VMX. If you use Homebase and don't see it under the Sales heading of the reports sidebar, contact help@vmxllc.com.

Labor hours and cost pulled from Homebase

When your VMX account is connected to Homebase, VMX pulls each day's labor hours and labor cost from Homebase automatically — per store, from Homebase's own timesheets — and uses those figures, instead of VMX time clock entries, where daily labor appears in VMX reporting, including:

  • The Daily report's Labor, GP after Labor, Sales/Labor Hr, and Labor/Revenue rows — see Daily Summary.
  • The GAP gauge on the VMX dashboard (GAP = Margin − Labor as a % of Sales), which uses the day's labor cost.

Two things to know:

  • Each VMX store must be matched to its Homebase location; VMX configures this mapping during setup. A store that isn't linked to a Homebase location reports zero labor.
  • The OT Labor $ row on the Daily report shows zero for Homebase-connected accounts. Homebase reports each day's total hours and cost without separating overtime, so VMX shows zero there rather than an estimated (and possibly wrong) number.

The Homebase labor connection is enabled per-client by VMX — contact help@vmxllc.com to set it up or to link an additional store.

Record an employee's Homebase ID

On accounts connected to Homebase, the employee form on the Users page includes a Homebase ID field, so an employee's VMX record can carry the ID of their matching Homebase profile:

  1. Go to Admin → Users.
  2. Open the employee for editing (or create a new employee).
  3. Enter the employee's ID from Homebase in the Homebase ID field.
  4. Click Update (or Create for a new employee).

The Homebase ID field only appears when your account's Homebase connection is enabled. If you don't see it and believe you should, contact help@vmxllc.com.
