New Product Images

What the New Product Images Report Shows

The New Product Images report lists every publishable image added to your system in a date range — item photos and item sign images, department and sub-department images, collection and brand images, and care guides — along with who uploaded each one and whether its origin (provenance) has been verified.

Its purpose is copyright safety: images saved off the web and used on your website, signs, or online store can create real copyright liability. This report surfaces new uploads daily so questionable images get reviewed before they're published anywhere.

For each image the report shows:

  • A thumbnail of the image
  • File — the file name (click to open the attachment) and the date/time it was added
  • Type — what kind of image it is (item, department, collection, sign, …)
  • On — the item number(s) the image is attached to, if any
  • Uploaded by — the employee who added it
  • Provenance — the origin status (see below)

At the top, the report summarizes how many images were added and, when any need attention, how many — with a link to review them in the Image Provenance Audit tool.

What the Provenance Statuses Mean

Each new image gets one of these statuses in the Provenance column:

  • ✓ Our photo — recorded as a photo your business took
  • ✓ Camera photo (auto-verified) — the image's camera metadata indicates it's an original photo
  • ✓ Vendor-supplied — provided by the vendor for your use
  • ✓ Licensed: … — licensed stock imagery (the license type is shown)
  • ✓ AI generated — generated, not photographed or copied
  • ⚠ Saved from the web — recorded as grabbed from a website; needs review before publishing
  • ⚠ Matches stock-photo catalogs — an automated scan found the image in stock-photo catalogs; it may be copyrighted
  • ? Origin unknown — the uploader recorded that they don't know where the image came from
  • NEEDS REVIEW — origin not recorded — no origin information was recorded for the upload

As the report itself notes: provenance checks (camera metadata, stock-catalog and web scans) are guidance, not a guarantee — they can miss copyrighted images and can flag images you have every right to use. When in doubt, have a person confirm where an image came from.
