Store Hours

The Store Hours page records your store's operating hours for each day of the week, including seasonal changes that start on a future date. These hours are used by VMX's employee scheduling tools — they set the open/close boundaries on the Schedule page and feed the labor summary on the Time page.

Store Hours is part of the VMX scheduling feature. The Schedule tab appears in your Admin menu only when scheduling is enabled for your store and you have the 👁️ Schedule admin permission. If scheduling isn't enabled for your store, contact help@vmxllc.com.

Opening the Store Hours Page

  1. Go to Admin → Schedule. (Viewing the schedule requires the 👁️ Schedule admin permission.)
  2. Click the Manage Store Hours link near the top of the page.

The page shows one section per day, Monday through Sunday. Each section lists the day's current hours (for example, "9:00 AM - 6:00 PM", or "Closed"), any upcoming changes under Future Hours: with a "Starting:" date, and an Add Hours for [Day] button. Each entry has Edit and — for dated entries — Delete buttons.

If your store has multiple locations, hours are saved for the store you currently have selected. Switch stores to manage each location's hours.

Adding or Changing Hours for a Day

  1. On the Store Hours page (Admin → Schedule → Manage Store Hours), click Add Hours for [Day] under the day you want to change, or click Edit on an existing entry.
  2. In the window, fill in:
    • Effective Date: — "Leave blank for default hours. Set a future date for seasonal changes." An entry with a date takes effect on that date and stays in effect for that weekday until a later-dated entry replaces it.
    • This day is closed — check this if the store doesn't open that day. The time fields are hidden when checked.
    • Open Time: and Close Time: — the day's operating hours.
    • Note (optional): — a short label (up to 64 characters), e.g. "Winter Hours" or "Holiday Schedule". The note is shown under the hours on this page.
  3. Click Save.

Two validation messages can appear when saving:

Please enter both open and close times, or mark as closed

Close time must be after open time

Enter both times (or check This day is closed), and make sure the close time is later than the open time.

Seasonal Hours (Effective Dates)

Hours are stored per weekday as a timeline. To schedule a seasonal change ahead of time — say, closing at 5:00 PM starting November 1 — add a new entry for each affected day with Effective Date: set to the changeover date. Until that date arrives, the new entry is listed under Future Hours: with a "Starting:" label; on the effective date it automatically becomes the current hours. When the season ends, add another dated entry to switch back — you don't need to edit anything on the changeover day itself.

Entries whose dates have been superseded move into the historical list. Click Show Historical Hours at the bottom of the page to review them; as the page notes, "Past hours are shown for reference only and cannot be edited."

Deleting an Hours Entry

On the Store Hours page, click Delete on an entry to remove it. You'll be asked to confirm:

Delete these hours for [Day]? This cannot be undone.

Delete only appears on entries that have an effective date. A day's default (undated) hours can't be deleted — edit them instead, or check This day is closed to mark the day closed.

What Store Hours Are Used For

Store hours drive VMX's employee scheduling tools:

  • Admin → Schedule — each day's column header on the schedule shows that day's hours (or "Closed"), and the schedule's staffing warnings are based on them — for example, flagging stretches of the open day with fewer than 2 employees scheduled, or employees scheduled on a day the store is closed.
  • Admin → Time — the Store Hours for Period summary shows Total Scheduled Hours, Days Open, and Average Hours per Open Day for the selected pay period, calculated from these hours.

Store hours do not control anything customer-facing: they don't limit when registers can ring sales, and they are not the hours shown on your online store or website — those are managed separately.
