Daily Discounts

The Daily Discounts report (page title Daily Sales Discounts for Month) shows, for each day, how much merchandise was sold below its regular price and how much was given up in discounts. Use it to keep an eye on markdown activity and to catch days with unusually heavy discounting. Find it under Reports → Sales → Daily Discounts.

What counts as a discount on the Daily Discounts report

The report includes only line items that sold for something other than their regular price. Two kinds of items are deliberately excluded:

  • Items with no regular price on file
  • Items that always require a manually entered price (there's no "regular" price to discount from)

Because of this, the Gross Sales column is the regular-price value of the discounted items only — it is not your store's total gross sales for the day. Use the Daily Summary report for whole-store totals.

Columns on the Daily Discounts report

One row per day, with a Total row at the bottom:

  • Date — the day (click it to see the individual discounted items — see below)
  • Gross Sales — what the discounted items would have sold for at regular price
  • Discount Amount — total dollars of discount given that day
  • Net Sales — what the discounted items actually sold for (Gross Sales minus Discount Amount)
  • Discount % — Discount Amount as a percent of Gross Sales

If your account has more than one sales division, a separate table is shown for each division. The report covers the store you are currently working in. Use the download icon to export a table to CSV.

Switch between Month and Year

The dropdown at the top of the page switches the range:

  • Month — every day of the calendar month containing the report date (the default)
  • Year — every day of the fiscal year containing the report date

See the individual discounted items for a day

Click any Date in the report to open the day's detail, which lists every discounted line item:

  • Date, # (receipt number), PLU, Description
  • Gross Sales, Discount Amount, Net Sales, Discount %
  • Cashier — who rang the sale
  • Class — the customer class whose discount was applied to the sale, when there was one

This is the fastest way to answer "who gave that discount, and on what?" for a day that looks out of line.
